Overview

TRAINING OF TRAINERS (TOT):

THREE-MONTH PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

IEBT Program

Three-Month Training to help ESL teachers and instructors who combine teaching responsibilities with training management supervision and administration.

This program is a combination of One-Month Intensive Training with a follow-up Two-Month On-The-Job Professional Training with American schools and other training institutions. Upon completion of the one-month intensive training, program participants will join their pre-assigned host training institutions to continue gaining professional skills in a real work environment. Program participants will be assigned to participate in developing curriculum and training materials; learn about effective training administration and management skills, and master language training techniques with a host supervisor and ESL teachers. Program participants must meet 40 hours a week to perform on the job training with a host training institution.

ENROLLMENT

Applications are accepted on a continual, year-round basis. Due to strict visa regulations, we strongly encourage early submission of applications.

Three-Month Professional Training Program for ESL Teachers offers a combination of one-month Induced Discourse Method of teaching ESL at ICLS and follow-up on-the-job training with American schools and colleges, and specialized language training centers.

After an application is received, ICLS will need at least two-three months to review an application, identify a host school, develop a customized training plan, process J-1 visa related documents, and provide the applicant with a package that he/she will need to obtain the J-1 visa.

For those participants who have chosen Three-Month Professional Training Program and have already identified a host company, ICLS will need one month to prepare the above described documents.  Please note that if ICLS determines that either the professional training or host company identified is not eligible for the J-1 program, we will so advise the participant.  At that time, the participant may request ICLS to assist him/her in identifying a new training program and/or host company/organization placement.

Obtaining a J-1 Visa

New US Visa regulations require a rigorous review of documents that are required before ICLS can issue the DS-2019 form.  This includes reviewing the visa application, identifying the host company placement, developing the training plan, interviewing the applicant, reviewing the financial support documents and medical insurance, as well obtaining sufficient evidence of the applicant’s intention to return to home country upon completion of the program.  To learn about the specifics of the J-1 visa application review, please visit the US Embassy located in your home country.  We advise you to sign up early for an interview prior to receiving a J-1 application package.  Due to many applications, US Embassies set up an interview date for a J-1 visa applicant.  We also suggest you check with the US Embassy on a regular basis to monitor any changes in scheduling an interview or visa processing.  Please count on at least one month to obtain an appointment for the interview. Processing of J-1 visa applications may vary at each US Embassy/Consulate in your home country.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE

Please send us an email to request the latest schedule for this option.

The Program duration should not exceed the approved date shown in your DS 2019 Form. The maximum duration of the program is 18 months. As a J-1 Sponsor, only ICLS has the authorization to make changes in the trainee’s DS-2019 form and in his/her training program.
