The
International Exchange and Business Training (IEBT) Program was
established in 2002 at the International Center for Language Studies
(ICLS) in response to a strong demand for
exchange and business training from foreign students and professionals.
This program is strongly supported by the U.S. government as a key part
of its effort to promote public diplomacy.
The program is designed to foster
international exchanges by bringing international students and
professionals to the United States for on-the-job training at U.S.
organizations and companies under the
U.S. Government’s Exchange Visitor Program (EVP).
We
encourage international students and professionals to continue to
view the U.S. as their premier exchange and
training destination. Your presence in our training workshops,
businesses, other organizations and cultural and social life will
strengthen a mutual
understanding of global issues and international business culture and
improve the chances for peace, business cooperation and global economic
development.
PROGRAM MISSION
The
International Exchange and Business Training Program fosters
people-to-people international understanding through interaction at the
personal and professional levels. The program brings participants to the
United States from abroad to meet, confer and work with their
professional counterparts and to experience firsthand
the society and culture of the United States.
PROGRAM GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
-
To strengthen and internationalize
professional learning in the United States.
- To enhance international
understanding and professionalism through business, cultural and
other activities involving the exchange of knowledge, skills, ideas
and experiences.
- To provide participants the
opportunity to study American business practices, management,
corporate governance and current issues challenging the U.S. private
and public sectors.
- To gain practical experience in
individual professional areas through training opportunities in
American corporations and nonprofits (NGOs.)
- To transfer knowledge and skills
across countries and prepare the next generation of global leaders.
- To offer opportunities to
strengthen and share leadership skills and experiences with other
participants to enable them to contribute more effectively in their
home countries.
- To impart information about the
United States, its business, economy, society and governmental
system to participants.
- To enable international
participants to exchange information with Americans about people,
culture, values, professional goals, business achievements and daily
activities and learn the same from their American counterparts.
TRAINING MONITORING AND EVALUATION
The IEBT Program Management at ICLS
will monitor and evaluate training activities on a regular basis
designed in compliance with the Exchange Visitor Program. This includes
monthly engagement with a participant and his or her training
supervisor. Detailed information on our monitoring and evaluation
procedures will be provided during Orientation.
TRAINING PROGRAM OPTIONS
The International Exchange and Business
Training Program (IEBT) at ICLS is designed to promote professional and
business training exchanges for international professionals and graduate
students. IEBT offers several options of training based on the language,
cultural and professional experiences of individuals interested in
on-the-job (OTJ) training in the United States. Intensive Regular and
Business English Language Orientation aims at improving four major
languages skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing, and
pronunciation as well. Follow up OTJ gives trainees from 3 to 18 months
to master business and professional skills, gain knowledge of American
business culture and experience on-the-job training with a U.S. company
or organization.
Our Training Program offers a select
group of professionals and university and college graduates from around
the world an opportunity to collaboratively examine important issues
such as global leadership, the new world economy, e-commerce, business
and international development. Training and exchanges will focus on how
Americans deal with these issues.
