This option
is for participants whose long term goal is to participate in the J-1
Exchange Visitor Program in order to experience language, cultural,
business, and professional training exchanges through internship or
on-the-job training with an American company or organization.
I.
English as a Second Language (ESL) Program
– Intensive English Program (IEP):
ICLS offers a 6-month Intensive English Program (IEP)
to improve English language proficiency. The
Intensive English Program (IEP)
is a series of 4-week sessions, from beginning to advanced, meeting from
9:00 a.m. to 12:50 p.m., Monday through Friday. Emphasis is placed on
speaking, listening comprehension, reading, writing and pronunciation.
Incoming students are given a placement test to determine their entry
level. International participants must enroll in the Intensive English
Program (IEP) as a full time student on an F-1 visa. ICLS provides the
I-20 form to apply for an F-1 visa.
Qualified
participants may be enrolled in the ESL Program on an F-1 visa. Participants are given a
placement test to determine the
level of English proficiency. To learn more about this program

II.
On-the-Job Training with U.S. Companies and Organizations (J-1 Visa:
Upon completion of the 6-month IEP program, ICLS will assess
a student’s English proficiency to determine
eligibility for the J-1
Exchange Visitor Program. The IEBT Program staff will assist qualified
students in identifying training objectives, preparing for placement
interviews, and completing the J-1 application program requirements. The
visa application package will be completed prior to departure from the
United States. A minimum of 30 days between programs before obtaining a J-1
visa. IEBT participants will receive a J-1 Visa Program Orientation upon
their return to ICLS in compliance with the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program
requirements. RECOMMENDED FOR BEGINNERS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH LOW
INTERMEDIATE ENGLISH.
Training Break for F-1 Students/Returning to Home Country. In
order to enroll in a J-1 exchange-training program, F-1 students must return
to their home countries to obtain a J-1 Visa. Applicants are required to
have a visa interview at the U.S. Embassy in their home country.
Upon enrollment, all
participants will receive a Program Orientation, which will cover: (1) J-1 Visa Exchange
Visitor Program requirements, and (2) Guidelines of On-The-Job Professional (Internship) Training
at a U.S. Company or Organization.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
RETURNING TO HOME COUNTRY
REQUIRED! After completing ESL studies,
those who qualify for On-The-Job Training (internship), must return to their home
countries in order to re-enroll in the J-1 training program. According to the
U.S. Department of
Homeland Security, Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS, formerly the Immigration
and Naturalization Service, INS), F-1 visa participants seeking to apply for a J-1 training
program, must return to their home country to obtain the J-1 visa at the U.S. Embassy of the
participant’s home country. ICLS will provide the J-1 visa application package, including a
support letter and J-1 visa related papers for qualified participants.

F-1 students, who successfully graduated from ESL
Program at ICLS, will be qualified to participate in the J-1
Exchange Visitor Program. The will be enrolled in the Immediate
On-The-Job Training (See Option 3).
