TRAINING FIELD: HUMAN RESOURCES/ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONSULTING

Training Goals: To learn American business practices, HR/Training consulting and entrepreneurship

Training Length: 18 months

Program Start Date: June 1, 2008

Host Company Type: Human Resources/Training consulting company (Small business)

Location: Brooklyn, New York (near public transportation)

Compensation: Unpaid for first 3 months. Travel and meal remuneration for next 3 months. A small stipend will be considered afterwards depending on performance.

Training Hours: 40 hours per week (8 hours a day)

ON THE JOB TRAINING DESCRIPTION

Trainee will be working closely with the CEO in a busy entrepreneurial environment. He or she will support a wide range of assignments and client-centered projects in this busy consulting practice/small office.

The program begins with a comprehensive orientation, followed by specific training on each aspect of work. Once orientation is complete, trainee becomes an active member of the team as an administrator, learning about running small offices, managing projects and developing a consulting business. Depending on your performance and career interests, more responsibilities will be considered, such as marketing research, customer service, client communications, training design/development, office management, recruitment and project management.

Through participating in on-going projects, trainee will gain experience in research, design, communication, marketing/promotions and production as well as gain general knowledge about American business practices and business culture.

HOST COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Specializing in consulting, training and coaching in people management and leadership development. Areas of expertise include: global leadership, virtual team facilitation, performance management and cross-cultural communications. Company is small (entrepreneurial, start-up, creative), and focuses on it’s own branding and promotion (website, blog, design, publishing, updating press kit folder contents) and client outreach. Looking to grow into a niche management consulting company in the next 5-7 years.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recent university graduates and young professionals between the ages of 23-35.

  • Academic degree or professional certificate in related field

  • One year work experience in related field or 5 years of work experience in related field in absence of a degree or professional certificate
    Strong desire to improve knowledge of American society, culture and learn new skills.

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Excellent English communication skills.

  • Strong Computer skills: excellent MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); Internet research. Other graphic programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark) are a plus.

  • Basic knowledge of the Human Resources function. Organizational Development and Training/Development fields preferred.


Training Field: Hotel Food and Beverage

Training Goals: To learn professional procedures for formal service in hotel food and beverage.

Training Length: 12 months

Program Start Date: April 2008

Host Company Type:  A full-service hotel of leading lodging company

Location: Bethesda, MD and Georgetown, Washington DC

Compensation: $1920/month (approximately)

Training Hours: 35-40 hours a week

On The Job Training Description

Objectives of traineeship in this field are learning the importance of excellent customer service, understanding the daily operations of a restaurant, and acquiring problem-solving skills.

Traineeship will focus on the four areas of the hotel’s food and beverage division: Food & Beverage Service, Bar/Lounge Service, Catering/Special Events and Food & Beverage Management, and Customer Relations.

On The Job Training Description

Trainee will support the following tasks:  Research- Online, through interviews and resources such as the Library of Congress, government and non-government agencies.

Policy Analysis- Perform policy analysis and present recommendations.

Writing- Summarize research findings and work with staff members on producing analytic research reports.

Company provides market research and policy analysis on the U.S.-Japan relations for multinational corporations and government organizations. Consultation on various areas including telecommunications and IT, advanced technologies, energy and environment, innovation and competitiveness. Tracks current developments in high-technology sectors, and provides various support services to media and policy organizations.

Training Field: Telecommunications

A global IT and Telecommunications firm is looking for an Information Technology and Communication Management intern for their Washington DC office. The candidate must be fluent in English and Japanese and have an IT security Network/ Engineering background. The chosen candidate will receive valuable advanced training in IT and telecom technology. This is a paid internship and will be for twelve months with the possibility of a six month extension. The internship is available immediately.


Training Field: Hotel Management

Two prestigious hotels in the Washington DC area offer internships in the following areas:
