The International Exchange
and Business Training Program at ICLS offers programs year-round (fall,
spring and summer seasons). Fall and spring seasons are divided into two
sessions, while summer is one session. We strongly recommend that you
submit your application as far in advance as possible. We welcome
applications up to one year in advance of your desired start date and will
accept applications until the deadline for the session for which you are
applying. If an application is received after the deadline has passed for
any session, it will be reviewed for the following session and the applicant
will be notified accordingly.
After an application is received, ICLS
will need three to four months to find a host organization, process visa documents, develop a
customized training plan and provide the applicant with a package that he/she will need to obtain
the J-1 visa. (See J-1 Application Processing at US Embassy/Consulate
below)
For those participants
who have already identified a host company, ICLS will need up to two months to prepare the visa
application package. Please note that if ICLS determines that either the professional training or
host company identified is not eligible for the J-1 program, we will so advise the participant.
At that time, the participant may request ICLS to assist him/her in identifying a new training
program and/or host company/organization placement.

ICLS reserves the
right to deny applications if the applicant does not meet selection
criteria. To see IEBT selection criteria, please consult the Applicant

Deadlines are subject to
change at any time due to changing conditions in the United States
internship market.
*Applications must be
complete and supporting documents must be submitted by the session deadline
in order to be considered. Incomplete applications will delay internship
placement.
*If an application is
received past the deadline for any session, it will be reviewed for the
following session.
*Depending on the
placement needs of American host companies, there is a chance that
internship placement will experience a delay. In case there is a placement
delay beyond ICLS’ control, ICLS will notify the applicant of the
delay. The applicant can choose to either reschedule his/her program or
withdraw from the program.

J-1 APPLICATION
PROCESSING AT US EMBASSY/CONSULATE
New U.S. visa
regulations require a rigorous review of visa applications. This includes reviewing the
application, information about the host company, training plan, and an interview of the
applicant. To learn about specifics of the J-1 visa application review, please visit the
U.S. embassy located in your home country. Schedules and times for processing visa
applications may vary. It is advised to sign up early for an interview. Due to many
applications, U.S. embassies request applicants to schedule the interview and submit J-1 visa
related application documents in advance. We also suggest you contact the U.S. consulate
regarding any changes in the schedule. U.S. embassies are offering electronic information
services as well as visa-related forms available online. Contact the U.S. consulate in your
home country.
