BUSINESS ENGLISH Classes

Business English is designed to complement the morning Intensive English Program (IEP) with an emphasis on speaking and listening skills to help students assimilate into a professional work environment. Focusing on a new topic each week, students will practice English skills in an office environment, at business meetings, presentations, interviews, networking events and internships. Class sizes range from 2-6 individuals per group. High Intermediate to Advanced English Fluency is required. New topics begin every Monday.

SCHEDULE of CLASSES

Days:  Monday through Friday 10-hours per week, in two 4-week sessions.

Hours: 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

**  Registration fee is non-refundable. ICLS reserves the right to cancel a class due to lack of enrollment. In the case of lack of enrollment, the registration fee will be refunded.  ICLS Students, currently enrolled in IEP, are exempt from paying a registration fee.

Week 1:     Getting Acquainted: Introductions and Conversations in Social and Business  Setting/Networking

Week 2:     American Social Practices:  Inviting, Accepting or Declining Invitations and the Business Lunch

Week 3:     Using the Telephone (practicing telephone etiquette and communication strategies)

Week 4:     Discussing Issues and Participating in Meetings

Week 5:     Describing Your Work / Interviewing for Internship or Employment

Week 6:     Presentations: Preparation and Delivery of your Program or Project

Week 7:     Negotiations/Closing Deals

Week 8:     Making Meetings Effective (running a business meeting)

Registration Requirements

Applicant's English level will be tested for the Business English Program, similar to the test that all Intensive English Program (IEP) students take at the beginning of their program. Applicants should be at the high-intermediate to advanced level in order to benefit from the Business English Program.
